wuwei

Недеяние — не бездействие, а действие без нарочитой воли, без насилия над ходом вещей. 無為 значит «не делать с умыслом»: не тянуть за росток, не хвататься, не навязывать. Парадокс, который база обязана сохранить: «Дао ничего не делает — и нет того, чего оно не делает» [37]. [37] 道常無為而無不為。

The Tao in its regular course does nothing (for the sake of doing it), and so there is nothing which it does not do.

[2] 是以聖人處無為之事，行不言之教

Therefore the sage manages affairs without doing anything, and conveys his instructions without the use of speech.

[43] 無為之益，天下希及之。

There are few in the world who attain to the teaching without words, and the advantage arising from non-action.

[63] 為無為，事無事，味無味。

(It is the way of the Tao) to act without (thinking of) acting; to conduct affairs without (feeling the) trouble of them; to taste without discerning any flavour;

[57] 我無為，而民自化

I will do nothing (of purpose), and the people will be transformed of themselves;

[64] 為者敗之，執者失之。

He who acts (with an ulterior purpose) does harm; he who takes hold of a thing (in the same way) loses his hold.

  • Не читать как «пассивность» или лень: мудрец у Лао-цзы правит государством и ведёт дела [57, 63] — он убирает насильственное усилие, а не всякое действие.
  • «Doing nothing (with a purpose)» — ключ в скобке «(with a purpose)»: устраняется умысел/принуждение, не деятельность.
  • Legge даёт 無為 разными формулами (non-action, doing nothing with a purpose, freedom from action [57.1]) — искать по 無為/無事.
